Shenzhen / 2nd - 4th December 2016

Introduction: 3D2N Shenzhen Trip (Part of Guangdong trip)

Dec 2, 2016 | China, Introductions, Shenzhen

I was in Shenzhen in 2012, and I didn’t do much. I only ate in a halal restaurant at Shenzhen Muslim Hotel and went shopping at Dongmen Market and Luohu Commercial City.

Honestly, there is nothing much I can remember about Shenzhen except for a couple of vivid encounters with the locals.

The first one was an encounter with two Uyghur men dressed in their full traditional attire dancing while barbecuing kebabs. What was striking to me was how happy they were to be a part of China. Posters that promote unity among Chinese citizens (Zhong Guo Ren) were pasted all over their stalls.

The second memory was a bit unfortunate. I was scammed at a shop in Luohu Commercial City. I won’t tell you what happened but of course, I hope I won’t get scammed again.

I will be staying at Shenzhen Muslim Hotel for the first night and Shenzhen Marriott Hotel Nanshan for the second. I will be taking Yuet Tung Shipping Co Ltd’s ferry from Macau’s Taipa Ferry Terminal to Shenzhen’s Shekou Ferry Port.
