Day 2 (in chronological order)
Conclusion: Reflections on trip to Bangkok
Introduction: 4D3N Bangkok Trip
This Bangkok trip was conceived hastily and haphazardly only two days before I depart for Bangkok. I am not a fan of last minute travel, but I must admit that it felt spontaneously adventurous. No plans were made before the trip and possibly, everything could go wrong. Why?
Firstly, I didn’t prepare any itinerary for this trip to Bangkok. And I am aware that, with no actual plan, the trip will not be as rewarding as it would be if it were meticulously planned. I predict, on this trip, most times, I will be lost, aimless, and conveniently swayed along together with the methodical, single directional waves of tourist crowds.
Secondly, I didn’t spend months shortlisting hotels and flights, analyzing the peaks and troughs of their prices to get the best deals I could find. I knew, with just days to book the flights and hotels, the prices I will be paying will not be the lowest.
Thirdly, I didn’t give ample notice to my wife and kids that I will be away from home. If you have a family, adequate notice is crucial so they can mentally prepare for my absence. I knew, with this trip, it would be an unwelcome jolt to our family routine when I am away.
But whatever it is, I shall remain positive about embarking on this trip.
I will be flying on Singapore Airlines SQ970 Business Class from Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2 (SIN) to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). As a Singapore Airlines’ Business Class passenger, I will have a chance to lounge in the SilverKris Business Class Lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 2 before the flight.
For my return flight, I will be flying on Thai Lion Air SL104 Economy Class from Don Mueang International Airport (DMK).
For the three nights in Bangkok, I will be staying at Al Meroz Hotel Bangkok, Four Points by Sheraton Bangkok and Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers.
And as far as food is concerned, I have no idea where the halal restaurants are in Bangkok. I didn’t do much research at all. But I don’t see that being a major issue for me on this trip because I was in Bangkok in 2012 and I survived. 🙂
